Video Course — "JavaScript. More Than Just a Website"

Recently I had the chance to watch a video course about JavaScript in Russian. I was given access for free to review on the blog, no strings attached. The title sounds ambitious — "JavaScript. More Than Just a Website"!

The course is aimed at beginners or those just starting to learn JavaScript. It runs over 7.5 hours with good video quality and clear audio. The author explains concepts well and almost every topic includes ready-made code examples you can experiment with immediately.

What I liked:

  • Very few such courses exist in Russian
  • Good sequence of topics
  • The author is clearly a professional
  • Code examples with live demonstrations
  • Clear debugging walkthroughs

What could be improved:

  • No printed/text version of the material
  • Course could be more in-depth
  • No coverage of popular frameworks (jQuery, Mootools, Prototype)
  • No AJAX chapter
  • Limited ready-to-use solution examples

Conclusion: If you've heard of JavaScript but don't know where to begin, this video course is a solid starting point. Check it out at the promo site: http://info-dvd.ru/bbm/go/markupdeveloper/p/javascript
